Artist bio - Victoria Collins

Australian painter Victoria Collins is especially drawn to ‘humble, cosy pockets of wildness’ found deep in the bush, as well as urban areas where nature finds ways to flourish among people. River banks from the unique perspective of her kayak are particular loves. Her aim is a soulful, eloquent sharing of these delights – inviting you to peer close, the same way as you lean in to listen when someone speaks softly.

Working mostly in oil paint for its superior colour, Victoria employs a richly toned impressionistic style, where lost-and-found edges describe the timelessness and movement of the forest, and the dance of light across leaf, web or wing. Organic mark-making with water and rags allows her to remove herself a step and let Nature speak through her.

She works full-time from her studio in Canberra. Victoria has shown in various galleries and exhibitions across the ACT, southern NSW and Tasmania through her 20+ years of painting professionally. She is currently featured at Splatter Gallery, Canberra and she is a Featured Artist on Bluethumb online gallery. Victoria seeks sustainable materials such as reclaimed boards and natural and eco-friendly pigments.
